SATURN is a Windows-based 32-bit software application and is compatible with all currently supported Microsoft Windows releases (ie 8.1/10, Server 2012/16/19).
SATURN does not require a particularly high-spec pc to run (although clearly for large networks number-crunching speed becomes an issue and large-memory high-speed machines are recommended). A typical lower-range specification for a system to run SATURN 11.5 would include:
♦ Intel Core i3 processor (with integrated graphics)
♦ 4Gb RAM
♦ At least 5Gb space on the mechanical hard drive or Solid State Disks (SSD) for the SATURN installation
♦ Windows 32-bit Operating System
A typical higher-end machine would include:
♦ multi-core processor (2.3GHz or faster) either on Intel-based Core i3/i5/i7/i9, Intel Xeon workstations or AMD-based processors with integrated graphics
♦ >16Gb RAM
♦ At least 25Gb hard drive space on 7200rpm hard disk drive or SSD
♦ Windows 64-bit Operating System
For using the SATGPU add-on
♦ Available PCI-E expansion slot(s) for one or more NVIDIA® GTX™ / RTX™ / Quadro® / Tesla® GPUs
♦ Appropriate power supply (>650W for single GPU and up to 1400W for three GPUs)
Experience has shown that SATURN is not particularly demanding on disk drives, memory or graphics capabilities. The assignment process is the most intensive and if users are considering purchasing a dedicated SATURN machine, it is recommended that they focus on the performance of the processor.
